Dear Richard,Thank you very much for your kindness. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to see G.G.'s mausoleum, but I have been lucky enough to find a CD of the original version of Porgy & Bess and to complete my collection of 4 CD of the pianist Jack Gibbons...(do you know that ?)
In 4 days, it was difficult to do everything I planned. For instance, I have been told that GG lived close to "Washington Square" but I didn't find the place (I asked several people & was "shocked" by the fact that some of them didn't know GG !). For the musicals, I found the places, but it was quite expensive..Anyway, it was great and I will try to go back to NY in a few months.
I also tried - unsuccessfully - to find the video of the film Porgy & Bess (1959 : year of my birthday..)
Do you know if there's a Gershwin fan club in France ?
Looking forward to hearing you soon.
Eve
