Hi -

The internet it truly wild! Here it is, May 2002, 8 months after your query about "There Is No Music."

Last nite on Marian McPartland's "Piano Jazz" on NPR, Bill Charlap played the tune. Damn - what a haunting and dark tune, especially the way Bill was voicing it! Anyway - he mentioned that he was turned on to it by Richard Rodney Bennett. They are both friends of mine, and today I called Richard and went by his place and picked up a xerox of his copy. It's a handwritten copy, in six flats, but contains the right melody, the lyric, and good changes (but one needs to hear Richard, or Bill, or both, play it, to get the right conception).
